Einstein has said: "Things should be as simple as possible and no simpler." That guy was a genius (and he had awesome hair). His idea that things should be as simple as possible and no simpler is like the Ockham's Razor of the design world.
We've developed a workflow processes here at Social Control that has served us well over the years. It's as simple as possible and no simpler. Sure there are other project management systems and techniques but this one has worked well for us. You can see it in greater detail on slide 10 of our capabilities deck but I'll tell you briefly about it here:
During the Discovery phase, we seek to understand what a brand is looking for and how they want to communicate their message to their audience. Want to rocket through this stage? Pull together the collective visions of the different stakeholders in the project and rank them according to whose is the clearest, most overarching vision of the project (and who has the most say in approval). In a way, this is very much like setting the boundaries of where our focus needs to be.
Then during the Design phase, we explore the boundaries of possibility by getting creative and ranging around the open spaces that have been delineated by the boundaries in the Discovery phase. We'll create and cast aside dozens of ideas and figure out what possibilities most closely match the vision that your stakeholders have for the project. Want to make this stage even more successful? Keep us in the loop to the shifting landscape of vision, budget, and stakeholders that can often come with a project like this.
Next is the Development phase. This is where we roll up our sleeves and put on our technical wizard hats to create what it is that we've been developing in the design phase. We test, build, tear apart, and re-test to make sure that what we're building is the best that it can be. To make this stage as successful as possible, be sure to keep the feedback loops as tight as possible to minimize delays between iterations.
Last is the Deployment phase. Here we launch the project and help it take its first baby steps in the world. You can make this part much more successful by including us in on stakeholder feedback and analytics and possibly scheduling a time to revisit the project and expand it for improved effectiveness.
So what do you think?
Reactions, responses or just feedback. Keep it short and sweet - you've got 100 words to do your thing.
